Jaime A. Román, M.D.

Dr. Roman is a family medicine physician committed to providing thoughtful, dependable primary care in a rural community. Dr. Roman completed medical training at Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico and trained at the UT Athens Family Medicine Residency Program, where Dr. Roman was elected chief resident for the Class of 2026.

Before entering medicine, Dr. Roman built an extensive career in civil and structural engineering, earning a master’s degree from Cornell University and leading complex engineering projects in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. This distinctive background brings strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a practical approach to patient care.

Dr. Roman’s experience also includes medical research, quality-improvement work, community health outreach, and volunteer service. Dr. Roman is passionate about forming trusted relationships with patients and helping individuals and families make informed decisions about their health.
